Taking Care of Your Sasta Garments

When properly cared for, Sasta products retain their special properties and stay in good condition for a long time. Take care of your clothing regularly and follow the washing instructions carefully in order to ensure that the materials retain their special characteristics, and your clothes can withstand hard use and demanding conditions year after year.

Sasta clothing is easy to care for and can be wet cleaned (machine-wash at 30 °C or 40 °C). Follow the washing instructions for each garment carefully.

The products should be washed with a mild detergent, inside out and separately from other washing. Drum-drying and fast spinning are not recommended, as they could damage the materials. After washing, turn the products right-side out, smooth them, and hang them to dry on a hanger or a clothesline.

Do not use fabric-softener when washing membraned products, like Gore-Tex or Gore Infinium, as it blocks the microscopic pores in the membrane or fabric and decreases the elasticity of the materials. Do not use bleach, either.

Wool has natural water- and dirt-repelling properties, and it is easy to keep clean by airing. If the garment is dirty, it is good to wash it. Follow the washing instructions and use wool detergent.

Sand and grit can reduce the life of the garment. Once dried, brush off all sand, grit and mud. Stains can be removed with a stain-remover. We recommend testing the stain-remover on the inside of the product first, to make sure it cannot damage the surface material. After removing the stain, wash the garment per its washing instructions.

Most Sasta surface fabrics have been pre-treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating that prevents the absorption of water and dirt into the material. If DWR has worn away in use or during washes, the garment can be reproofed. Waterproofers are sold in sports and outdoor stores, where you can also ask for advice on choosing the right product.

Do not sew badges or similar on your Gore-Tex® clothing. The stitches will pierce the waterproof membrane.
